Whiskey Creek Chesapeakes is a small
kennel that strives to breed excellent quality animals.
Our philosophy is:
"Breed to improve the breed,
not just to produce another litter of puppies."
We feel that to "improve the breed" you must prove that
your dogs are worthy of being bred. We feel that by showing, hunting and having our dogs in performance sports (obedience,
agility, dock jumping, and tracking just to name a few) makes them well rounded animals that are versatile and good examples
of America's oldest breed.
The health of our dogs and the potential puppies are also of
the utmost importance to us, hence we do extensive testing on all of our dogs. On each dogs page you will see a link
to their individual Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) page showing each of the health tests that have been performed
on each dog. Simply click the "Health Clearances" portion and each of the individual dogs health information
will come up in a separate window.
At Whiskey Creek we know that the "average" person
is looking for an excellent quality animal that blends in well with their family. We strive to accomplish that. But we also
know that our dogs can and do compete in a variety of performance activities. Dogs that Whiskey Creek owns compete
in many different venues from Conformation to Agility and Rally Obedience. Dogs that have been bought from Whiskey Creek
have become valuable family companions, hunting partner, and competition dogs.
Whiskey Creek keeps our dogs active
in AKC and UKC activities. The three mature dogs (Sydney, Walker, and Brier) that Whiskey Creek owns are titled in multiple
AKC and UKC venues. The younger girls (Twiggy and Reid) are following nicely in the paw steps of their sire and dam,
Walker and Brier.
Not only are we active in AKC and UKC activities, but also a member of our breeds
parent club, The American Chesapeake Club (The ACC). We have been active members for over 10 years and follow the ACC
"breeders
code of ethics."
We are also members in good standing
with the Asheville Kennel Club, the Obedience Club of Asheville, and the Owner Handlers Association.
